“Peter Jennings: A Reporter’s Life” edited by Kate Darnton, et al

5 stars

Some of us grew up watching Peter Jennings on television doing live reports all over the world or anchoring the evening news. Few of us really know, though, what goes into making a live broadcast; we just turn on the television and watch the news.

The snippets in this book from more than 80 different media insiders (fellow reporters, cameramen, sound guys, stage managers, administration, producers, directors, politicians, writers, friends, relatives, colleagues, etc.) show in-depth, anecdotal and behind-the-scenes views of what made Peter Jennings the consummate professional and perfectionist, which made him stand out amongst his peers over several devoted decades of outstandingly excellent journalism.
