“Frances and Bernard” by Carlene Bauer

4 stars

This book is an epistolary that tells the story of two people who meet at a writer’s workshop and the relationship that unfolds between them in the ensuing years. From friendship, to love and jealousy, to heartbreak and finally marriage to other people, their relationship is shown through letters that allow the reader to be there and to be a part of their ill-fated romance. Well-written and absorbing, I can unreservedly recommend this book.
