“Three Floors Up” by Eshkol Nevo

5 stars

Three novellas about three very different families living in the same apartment complex in a Tel Aviv suburb. Each story is unique, yet there are interconnections between them. The narrators of each story tell tales that make for compulsive reading. The first story concerns a father who fears his young child might have been molested by an elderly neighbor. The second story deals with a young mother who might be losing her grip on reality. The final novella tells the story of a recently widowed judge and her relationship with her son. Definitely an engrossing and worthwhile read.
