In 1907 the Hewlett
Bay Company purchased a tract of land on the South Shore of Nassau
County from
Joseph Auerbach and subsequently built luxury summer homes in the area
known today as Hewlett Bay Park. Among the officers of the
company
were Auerbach and Carleton Macy, both attorneys.
